The plan….

Ok guys, it is no secret that I need to get in shape. Ok, so maybe not just get in shape but lose weight and get healthy too :) So, Travis had been talking about wanting to do P90X for what seems like forever and I was like, yeah, whatever Travis. Well, we were watching TV the other day and the P90X infomercial was on. That is it. I am hooked. We ordered it and bought some dumbells, yoga mats, and a pull up bar, and now we are ready to go. Well, as soon as the dvd’s get here in the mail. I thought this might actually be something worth documenting so from time to time I will give you an update. I guarantee it won’t be pretty most of the time. And no, before anyone asks, I am not putting a before picture until I see that I will get results. Otherwise, I will just have a fat picture with no improvement picture to distract everyone. :)

So to help kick things off, Travis and I are going to be starting a 3 day fruit flush starting this Friday. It is basically just a cleanse to get us focused and rev our tastebuds up for healthy food! Once we get that out of the way, assuming the DVD’s are here, we will be starting day one of P90X on Monday.

So, I have to say that this should actually be quite comical for me since I am very uncoordinated and haven’t actually worked out hard in quite a while. For example, we bought the Iron Gym pull up bar, which actually works as a push up stand and support for your feet when you do sit ups and crunches. It is quite impressive. So anyway, I decide that I am going to get it out and put it together. Why not go ahead and see what this thing is all about. Well, I got it together, put it up on the door frame, and stared at it. After a brief pep talk to myself, I grabbed ahold of the parallel bars, lifted my feet, closed my eyes, and pulled with all my might. You know what happened??? Not a dang thing. I was still just hanging there. I couldn’t believe it! So I thought, well maybe I just need to give myself a little boost and jump a little. So, I got myself ready again, grabbed ahold of those bars, jumped, and………… I was still just hanging there within about 1 second. So I have a little ways to go. :) My goal by the end of the first round of 90 days (* I know I won’t be where I want to be in just 90 days, it might take me that long to be able to even do the dvd’s) anyways, my goal is to be able to do 1 pullup, unassisted by a chair or person, just me and gravity. :)

So, you all know I am not disciplined enough to post everyday, and heck, after I start working out, I may be too sore to type, but I will update you as much as I can. Until then……… Goodbye.

Saw your link on Twitter…my wife and I are at it too, but our schedule keeps us from working out together.

Don’t feel bad over doing no pullups. Week 1, I only got 1/4 of the way up with wide front pullups. I’m in Week 6, and I can do four.

Just keep pushing play. And swearing at Tony for being a dork.

Good to know I am not the only one! At least Tony kind of let’s you know that you are going to fail the first little bit. I read somewhere that most out of shape people can only do like 20% of the DVD’s when they start. Good to know I am not a failure! :)
